2026 Szeged Wine Festival will start one week later than usual
The 30th annual Szeged Wine Festival will begin one week later than usual in 2026, starting on Thursday, May 21, to coincide with the Day of Szeged (Szeged Napja), reports the local media outlet Szeged.hu.
As Hungary’s largest wine festival, the event will span 11 days and remain a central part of the Day of Szeged celebration series. According to organizers from Szegedi Városkép és Piac Kft., this is the first time the festival dates have been confirmed as early as June, allowing visitors to plan well in advance. “In previous years, we usually announced in January,” said managing director Attila Rácz.
The festival will again include the Craft and Gastro Square (Gasztroudvar) and the Treasure Square (Kincs Tér), two popular destinations for local flavors and handmade goods.
A key change in 2026 is that the major concerts at Dóm Square will be held on the opening weekend – May 22 to 24. Talks are already underway with potential headliners.
Pentecost will also extend the first weekend by one day, giving festivalgoers even more time to enjoy tastings, live music, and cultural programming. The 11-day celebration will conclude with the 25th Szeged Bridge Market (Hídivásár) on May 30–31.
