Szeged’s Night of Museums to feature light show, eco-fashion, and Ice Age fossils

A spectacular light projection, fashion show made from recycled materials, and real Ice Age fossils will headline this year’s Night of Museums at the Móra Ferenc Museum on Saturday, June 21, from 6 p.m. to midnight.

The event will feature a light painting show on the museum’s historic façade and open the second phase of the museum’s Ice Age exhibition, showcasing original bones and skeletons of animals like the giant deer, cave hyena, and saber-toothed tiger.

Interactive displays will let visitors experience the era’s climate firsthand. A third and final phase of the exhibition – featuring animatronic mammoths from China – is expected in early July.

In addition to exhibitions, the evening offers concerts, folk dancing, fire performances, and a runway show featuring sustainable fashion. All exhibitions at the Móra Ferenc Museum, Fekete Ház, and Vármúzeum will remain open late, with guided tours, workshops, and family activities throughout the night.

The main program is in Hungarian, but spectacle-based events – such as music, dance, fashion, and light shows – are visual and musical and can be enjoyed regardless of language. The Ice Age exhibition is bilingual, with texts available in both Hungarian and English.

Tickets are 3,990 forints (about $11) for adults and 2,990 forints (about $8) for students and seniors. One ticket provides access to all venues and events – advance tickets available from June 18 at the museum or online via Cooltix.hu.

Outdoor programs in front of the Móra Ferenc Museum are free of charge.
