24th Szeged Bridge Fair returns this weekend with hundreds of artisans, performances, and parades
The 24th Szeged Bridge Fair (Szegedi Hídivásár) takes place this weekend, May 24–25, as part of the closing weekend of the Day of Szeged Celebration Series. For two days, Belvárosi Bridge and Híd Street will transform into one of Hungary’s largest open-air craft market, welcoming around 250 Hungarian artisans and thousands of visitors.
The area will be closed to vehicle, bike, e-scooter, and public transport traffic, making way for stalls, performances, and street artists. Handmade ceramics, leather goods, woodwork, textiles, and other unique items will be available for purchase directly from their makers.
The fair officially opens at 9:30 AM on Saturday with the traditional stilt walker parade, which departs from Széchenyi Square and crosses Belvárosi Bridge.
Throughout the weekend, live music and performances will take place on both the Szeged and Újszeged sides of the bridge. Highlights include:
Saturday, May 24
2:00 PM – Másképp Szól (Szeged side)
1:00 PM – Szilágyi Ati Band (Újszeged side)
Sunday, May 25
10:00 AM – Foolish Heart (Szeged side)
11:00 AM – Tabán Choir (Szeged side)
1:00 PM – Hegedűsné Kovács Zsuzsa (Szeged side)
11:00 AM – Double Shake (Újszeged side)
1:00 PM – Bajusz Zoltán (Újszeged side)
4:00 PM – Giant puppet parade by Kövér Béla Puppet Theater (from Újszeged side)
The Bridge Fair is a staple of Szeged’s cultural calendar, offering a festive atmosphere filled with music, craftsmanship, and family-friendly entertainment. Entry is free.
Visitors to the fair can also enjoy views of the Day of Szeged Dragon Boat Race, taking place Saturday on the river alongside the bridge, or head into town where the Szeged Wine Festival is in full swing — including the Dóm Square concerts, which begin tonight.
