Szeged, Hungary – A fatal accident occurred at the BYD factory construction site in Szeged. A worker died Saturday during crane operations. The incident is under investigation.
A worker died Saturday at the construction site of the BYD plant in Szeged, according to the local news outlet Szeged365. The report was later referenced by several Hungarian media outlets, including Telex. The Chinese automaker confirmed the information in coordination with the general contractor.
The accident occurred during a loading and crane operation carried out by a subcontractor. The exact cause of the accident has not yet been determined. Authorities are investigating the circumstances.
In a statement to Szeged365, BYD’s PR representative said the project owner – BYD – the general contractor, AE Industry Hungary Kft., and the subcontractors involved are fully cooperating with authorities.
“A comprehensive investigation is underway to clarify the facts. All companies involved are committed to fully complying with applicable laws and established safety regulations. We express our sincere condolences to the family of the deceased,” the statement said.
