The 9th Zsigmond Vilmos International Film Festival announced its 2025 award winners yesterday during an award ceremony in Szeged.

This year’s edition received nearly 300 submissions from 52 countries. From these, the pre-selection jury chose 9 feature films, 6 documentaries, 14 short films, and 8 music videos to compete in the official program.

The full list of awards is as follows:

  • Main Award / Zsigmond Vilmos Award for Best Cinematography

    Natalia Mamaj and Lili-Rose Pongratz for Echoes from Borderland (Germany)

  • Best Feature Film

    Holy Rosita (Belgium), cinematography by Dries Delputte

  • Best Short Film

    Grobbendonk (Belgium), cinematography by Grimm Vandekerckhove

  • Special Mention – Short Film

    Earworms Earmuffs (USA), directed and shot by Gavin Wynn

  • Best Documentary

    Penosar (Iran), directed by Hossein Fatahi

  • Special Mention – Documentary

    Beyond Rock Bottom (Hungary), directed and shot by Ádám Miklós

  • Critics’ Jury Prize + Best Young Cinematographer Award from Special Grip Hungary and Vantage Vision

    Agnesh Pakozdi for Blackbird, Blackbird, Blackberry (Switzerland)

  • Best Music Video Cinematography

    Kristóf M. Deák for Pogány Induló: One / Two (Hungary)

  • Special Mention – Music Video (Student Jury)

    István Kürti for QJÚB: Underground Fight (Hungary)

  • City of Szeged Prize – Music Video

    Fabó Tóth for Parno Graszt: The Wind Whispers (Hungary)

  • Special Mention – Music Video (Festival Jury)

    Zoltán Dévényi for Platon Karataev: Unanswered (Hungary)

  • Hungarian Cinematographers’ Association Award
