2025 Szeged International Airshow canceled
The 2025 Szeged International Airshow has been canceled, according to multiple media reports citing confirmation from the organizer, Szeged Transport Company.
The annual event, one of the most anticipated in Szeged, will not take place this year due to government funding cuts affecting public transportation, the company said. Organizers noted the airshow requires about 100 million forints in support from the city and the company.
Although no information about this year’s airshow has appeared on the event’s website or Facebook page, several online outlets reported the cancellation based on the company’s statement.
Last year’s airshow was also canceled when poor weather forced organizers to call off the program for safety reasons.
The city’s event calendar will see another gap this year: the Central European Hot Air Balloon Cup, held in Szeged last year, is moving to Szatymaz. The competition is scheduled for Sept. 11–14 at the Szatymaz Airfield.
Airport officials in Szeged said they did not apply to host the hot air balloon event this year. Szatymaz Mayor Károly Barna said the program will include balloon launches on each day and an airshow on the closing day.
The organizers of the Central European Cup have not responded to a request for comment on this year’s event details. If a response is received, the story will be updated.
