Jury announced for 10th Zsigmond Vilmos International Film Festival in Szeged
The jury for the 10th Zsigmond Vilmos International Film Festival has been announced ahead of next week’s opening of the annual cinematography-focused event in Szeged.
The jury will be chaired by Gábor Szabó, president of the Hungarian Cinematographers’ Association and a Balázs Béla Award-winning cinematographer. The panel will select the main and category winners from 41 films in competition.
Other jury members include cinematographer Ágnes Pákozdi, director and cinematographer András Salamon, cinematographer and educator Miklós Buk, and screenwriter and dramaturg Zsófia Ruttkay.
Pákozdi won three cinematography awards at last year’s festival for Blackbird Blackbird Blackberry. Her films have screened at major international festivals including the Cannes Film Festival, Locarno Film Festival, and the Berlin International Film Festival.
Salamon is the founder of the Lumiere Film School and directed the independent feature Random, which screened at last year’s festival. Buk, a founding member of the Hungarian Cinematographers’ Association, teaches cinematography at Budapest Metropolitan University.
Ruttkay has collaborated on several films directed by György Pálfi, including Taxidermia and Final Cut: Ladies and Gentlemen.
The festival’s critics’ jury will include film critic György Báron, writer Bence Bárány, and cultural journalist Kata Gyürke.
Additional awards will be presented by the Hungarian Cinematographers’ Association, the Hungarian Film Directors’ Association, and the festival’s student jury.
The 10th Zsigmond Vilmos International Film Festival opens May 13 with Out of Love. Winners will be announced May 17.
