Szeged to host electric vehicle event featuring Nick Heidfeld and Sébastien Buemi
Updated on July 24 to include new details provided by the organizers.
Former Formula 1 driver Nick Heidfeld and four-time Le Mans winner Sébastien Buemi will be among the guests at the E Street Parade, an electric mobility event scheduled for September 14 in Szeged, according to organizers.
The event, supported by the Municipality of Szeged, will feature displays of electric cars, motorcycles, and other low-emission or alternative-fuel vehicles, along with racing demonstrations and professional talks. Exhibitions will take place at Széchenyi Square, while vehicle demonstrations and racing programs will be held at Huszár Mátyás Quay, along the Tisza River, from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Admission is free.
Visitors can expect to see not only the latest electric cars and motorcycles but also high-performance and extreme racing vehicles on display.
Special guests Nick Heidfeld raced in Formula 1 for BMW and Renault and competed in Formula E, while Sébastien Buemi, who last visited Szeged in 2009, is a multiple Formula E and World Endurance Championship titleholder.
Organizers said Szeged was chosen not only for its historic setting but also for its role as one of Hungary’s emerging centers of technology and sustainability. The city is home to renewable energy research at the University of Szeged and has been selected as the site for BYD's first European electric car factory, which is currently under construction. According to organizers, the E Street Parade will be Hungary’s largest electromobility event.
Also part of the event, the Gokart Slalom Grand Prix will introduce a new motorsport category and also serve as a qualifier for the 2026 FIA Motorsport Games junior category.
Family-friendly activities will include opportunities for children to try electric go-karts and small motorcycles.
