International Children’s Day in Szeged

International Children's Day event at the puppet theater in Szeged

Kövér Béla Puppet Theater celebrates International Children's Day with its popular "Tengerhab Gyereknap" event on May 23-24, 2025. The two-day program includes free outdoor activities and ticket-only indoor performances.

On Friday, May 23, programs in front of the Puppet Theater's building include musical activities, interactive games, giant bubble-making, and handicraft activities. Indoors, two performances, mainly for pre-registered kindergarten and school groups, will be held by Barboncás Társulat in the Puppet Theater. A ticket-only afternoon performance will be in the studio room (Kamaraterem), suitable for ages 0-4.

Saturday's outdoor programs feature musical and handicraft activities, giant bubble-making, interactive games, and playing with puppets. Nyuszi, hopp!, a performance recommended for children aged 0-4, will be played in the Puppet Theater's studio room (Kamaraterem). On the bigger stage of the theater, an audience favourite, A púpos lovacska, awaits visitors.

The International Children’s Day weekend continues on Sunday, May 25, with Városi Gyereknap (City Children's Day) at Újszeged Partfürdő. This annual event, organized by the City of Szeged and the IH Event Center, offers a full day of free family-friendly programs from 10:00 AM to 6:00 PM. Stage performances include puppet theater shows and kids' concerts. Visitors can also enjoy craft workshops, sports demonstrations, a dog show, giant bubbles, a mini amusement park with reduced ticket prices, skill games, dragon boating, bouncy castles, ball games, street workout sessions, and a prize draw for participants in a point-collecting game.
