Starting April 1, 2022, Muslims throughout the world began to search the sky. The crescent moon, which marks the beginning of the holy month of Ramadan, was sighted in some countries today, and the fasting will begin tomorrow, April 3. In other countries - Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates, for instance - the holy month begins today.

Ramadan is one of the most important months for Muslims all over the world. It is the ninth month of the Islamic calendar, based on a 12-month lunar year of approximately 354 days. People observe this time as a month of fasting, prayer, and reflection.

The Ramadan month lasts from one sighting of the crescent moon to the next, so the last fast is expected to be observed on May 1, 2022. The end of the holy month is celebrated as Eid ul-Fitr.
