May Day celebration returns to Újszeged Liget with concerts and family programs

The May Day celebration (Szegedi Majális) returns to Újszeged Liget with concerts, family programs, food and drink vendors, and an amusement park from April 30 to May 4, 2025.

On Wednesday, May Day programs at Újszeged Liget start at 4 p.m. and feature musical performances. Thursday (May 1) offers traditional and modern dance performances, along with various concerts, with the first program beginning at 10 a.m. On this day, the last performance will start at 8 p.m. Concerts and programs will continue in the afternoon on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday.

May Day programs will also be held at Zápor Lake (Zápor-tó). Visitors can enjoy concerts and dance performances there starting at 10 a.m. on May 1.

Please note that May 1 is a public holiday in Hungary. Most shops and several service providers will be closed on this day. This year, May 2 is a bridge day – resulting in a long weekend – and to compensate, May 17 (Saturday) will be a make-up workday.
