Hungary wins feeder fishing world title in Spain – Szeged-based competitor takes individual gold
Hungary’s national feeder fishing team successfully defended its world championship title at the 2025 Feeder Masters World Championship, held April 11–12 on the Júcar River in Spain’s Valencia region, reports szeged.hu.
The Hungarian squad secured the team gold medal with a total of 45 points, edging out Germany with 47 and host nation Spain with 48.5. The team included Tibor Ambrus and Zoltán Frankó, both with ties to Csongrád County, as well as Attila Erdei, a competitor based in Szeged.
Erdei delivered a standout individual performance, winning both rounds of the two-day competition — a rare feat that earned him the individual world championship title. He finished with just two points, the best possible score. The second-place finisher, from England, closed with five points.
Erdei’s contribution was not only visible on the scoreboard but also in weight: of the 61,510 grams of fish caught by the four-member Hungarian team, Erdei accounted for 38,390 grams. His effort was instrumental in both the team’s overall success and his personal gold-medal finish.
This marks Erdei’s second individual feeder world championship title. He is also a member of Hungary’s open-age feeder team and its traditional float fishing masters team.
