Hungarian artists' exhibition at Reök

An art exhibition of the National Association of Hungarian Artists (MAOE) opened at the REÖK All-Arts Center on Saturday, April 6.

The Távlat exhibition (meaning outlook or perspective in English) features nearly 100 artworks from 89 artists on two levels of the Reök Palace.

While previously hundreds of works appeared in the joint exhibitions of the REÖK and the National Association of Hungarian Artists, this year the concept was changed and the material for the exhibition on display was put together based on a tighter selection. The jury also awarded eight artists out of 90 creators, the awards were handed out at the opening event.

The catalog of the exhibited works was presented by Ildikó D.Udvari, the editor of the volume, while the exhibition was opened by Róbert Nátyi, Dean of the SZTE Bartók Béla Faculty of Arts and curator of the National Association of Hungarian Artists. Róbert Nátyi explained that they invited artists who strongly represent contemporary art, including 29 Munkácsy Award and 5 Ferenczy Noémi Award-winning artists.

After the opening ceremony, János Aknay, president, and Győző Sárkány, vice president of the association presented the awards. László Barnák, general director of the National Theater of Szeged, greeted the artists and guests.

The Távlat exhibition will be on display at the REÖK All-Arts Center at Magyar Ede Square in Szeged until May 12.
